Primary
education and schooling are the foundations upon which an
edifice of education is built and Dharmasthala has consistently
laid emphasis on providing a solid basic education. Siddhavana,
the modern re-creation of the gurukul, provides students with
an education that prepares them for the life ahead. The students
are not only taught Indian culture, yoga and Sanskrit but
also jointly work on and manage a farm to inculcate a work
ethos in them. Ratnamanasa too, supplements a regular syllabus
with practical preparations for the future.
The
Kshetra runs regular schools where education is provided to
the local children in the vernacular. Recognising the importance
of English in the modern world, Shri Heggade has established
English-medium schools that offer children the benefit of
quality education.
SDM
Mangala Jyothi Integrated School located Vamanjoor
is another school that has come under the Kshethra’s
management. This unique institution which believes in ‘integrated
schooling’ offers children with disabilities a chance
to study alongside normal children so that their disability
does not mark them out scar their mind. The school utilizes
technologically advanced equipment and teaching methods to
help the disadvantaged students. It maintains a ratio of one
disabled child for every two normal ones. More than the education
the affectionate and warm relationship between the tutor and
the taught is a sight that is rarely witnessed in such institutions.
