Most parts of Karnataka relies on ponds and lakes for their primary source of water. Comprehending this trend, Dr. D Veerendra Heggade and Shri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project, in occassion of Maha Mastakabhisheka 2019 have undertaken the social cause of replenishing over 100 lakes across the state.

The first round of financial aids in this direction was distributed by the Chief Minister of Karnataka Shri H D Kumaraswamy on 9th of February during his visit to Dharmasthala. Dharmasthala has undertaken this project in collaboration with the state government of Karnataka. The complete budget of the project is 28 crores, out of which 16 crores are borne by Dharmasthala and the rest by the state government.

The aim of the project is to enhance water conservation in the state and make lives better for farmers of Karnataka.
