“The initiative by the Jana Jaagruti Vedike to facilitate de-addiction of alcohol addicts of rural India and bring them to mainstream has been a successful one”, said MLA Kota Srinivas Poojary on 14th of September, at the get-together organized for members who have successfully battled addiction at Dharmasthala. The meet was organized by Jana Jaagruti Vedike and was attended by members of alcohol de-addiction camps organized by Dharmasthala.

“Alcohol Control Board of the government makes its attempts in creating awareness against over-consumption and rehabilitating addicts. But initiatives carried out by Jana Jaagruti Vedike and Dharmasthala are effective on another level as the process also taps on the mental beings of an addict and changes him on a core level,” Poojary added.
Maatrushree Hemavathi Heggade, speaking at the occasion stated “An alcohol addict is as good as the dead. Ones who have determined to stay away from it and lead a new life must ensure that they shall persist on the same new path all their lives. I am also proud of the women who have supportive of these initiatives and have contributed towards a renewed lives for themselves.

The Secretary of State Alcohol Control Board, Rohini K advised the successful candidates to not let any factor hinder their newfound determination.
Dr. D Veerendra Heggade, delivering his presidential remarks stated “Alcohol is the culprit that leads to most accidents in life. It makes good people do things that they otherwise would not. Alcohol not just spends your money, but diminishes your dignity in the society and brings down your lifespan as well.
